The NETS Residency Program is a two-year, on-site apprenticeship designed to prepare ministers and their spouses to plant churches through intense mentoring. While much of the program is personal and highly customized, it is guided by the following four simultaneous tracks. Every student is evaluated against the learning goals of each of these tracks through the two-year Residency Program. Upon successful completion of the NETS Residency Program, apprentices are evaluated for acceptance into the NETS Field Program.

The Personal and Family Track

ImageGospel ministers must adorn the gospel by being above reproach, both in personal integrity and family management. Failed marriages and moral failures are a prime contributor to failed churches. The Personal and Family track is built to strengthen the character and marriage of each NETS Resident couple which will be needed in order to plant a successful, healthy and growing church in New England.

The Hermeneutics and Theology Track

ImageChurch-planting pastors must be workmen who handle the word of the gospel with skill and wisdom. At NETS we help each student to see Christ in all of Scripture, grounded in historic Protestant and Reformed theology. These carefully honed exegetical skills are complemented by the practical skills developed in the Preaching and Ministry Track.

The Preaching and Ministry Track

ImageGospel ministers are charged to "preach the word," and NETS develops each resident's proficiency in gospel preaching. Couples also grow in their ability to minister that gospel. Through mentoring and shadowing, they learn to better diagnose, counsel, and shepherd the sheep.

The Leadership and Management Track

ImageShepherds must manage the flock well. At NETS we develop the leadership, business and organizational skills of each resident. Residents learn both through classroom instruction and by serving as adjunct elders.
