After moving from Tennessee to Vermont in July, 2008, Scott and Julie Terry are now in the final stretch of the NETS Residency Program. In July the Terrys, including Sam (15) and Jacob (12) will make one more move to Portland, Maine to begin planting a gospel-driven church.
Vermont is as different from Tennessee as New England is from the Bible belt. And the NETS Residency Program has been invaluable in helping the Terrys to acclimate to both their new surroundings, and to minister effectively in a context that is hyper-secular. In fact, New England is the most secular region in the United States and only 3% of Mainers attend an evangelical church. That means that nearly all of the Terrys' new neighbors are dead in their sins and without hope in this world.
Would you consider supporting the faithful proclamation of the gospel in Portland, Maine by praying for the Terrys? As they complete their NETS training and prepare to relocate to the Portland area this summer, would you:
- Ask God to use NETS to equip and encourage Scott to plant a gospel-driven church in the secular, pragmatic city of Portland.
- Ask Him to strengthen Scott and Julie’s marriage and family for the arduous work of church planting.
- Pray that the Terrys will do well in finding a new house, new schools, new friends, and a new church to attend in Portland.
- Ask God to open doors for the Terrys to build relationships to recruit people to the gospel and to the vision of church planting.
- Ask Him to prepare the people of Portland to receive the gospel, for Christ to build His Church and for the gates of hell to not prevail against it.
